No More Paper Towels

What is this all about?

Have you ever thought about the true cost of using each sheet of paper towel?

Let me explain.

By using every sheet of paper towel or toilet paper, we set off a chain reaction that leads to some alarming facts, and unfortunately, if this continues for another several years, there won't be any future for our species or the other inhabitants that we are sharing this beautiful planet with

• In Canada alone, a staggering 18 million metric tons of paper towels are consumed annually, only to be discarded after one single use.

• The pulp and paper production industry ranks as the third-largest industrial polluter in Canada and the United States, releasing over 100 million kg of toxic pollution each year.

• Globally, discarded paper towels contribute to a massive 254 million tons of waste each year. Methane gas released from decomposing paper towels equals emissions from 3.2 million cars annually (methane is a major climate change contributor).

• The paper industry uses more water per ton than any other industry (3,240L of fresh water per metric ton, totalling over 58.3 billion liters), with much of the polluted water flowing back into major water streams.

• Most toilet paper brands refuse to incorporate recycled or alternative fibers into their products, with more than 80% relying on virgin tree pulp.

• In Canada alone, every year, ONE million acres of Canadian boreal forest are cut down, primarily for paper production and towels. (This means 51,000 trees every day or 1.5 football fields' worth of forest every single minute.)

• From 2001 to 2017, Canada lost nearly 40 million hectares of forest, spewing carbon equivalent to the annual emissions of almost 321 million cars into the atmosphere.

Now, comparing these facts to the reality that it takes almost a decade for a tree to grow just one inch in diameter, it becomes clear that we're destroying trees at an alarming rate, way faster than we're letting them grow

On the other hand, the closest alternatives to using paper towels are electric hand dryers and recycled materials, but neither of these methods is that much hygienic and eco-friendly.

To put this claim into perspective, here are some facts.

Imagine a service that provides your businesses with fresh, ironed, and sanitary towels and napkin sets twice a week while taking away the used ones to clean, iron, and prepare for their next round of use.

What is our solution?
This service:
  • Use towels that fit your current paper towel dispensers, or replace them if necessary.

  • Provides designated bins for each bathroom and kitchen to gather used towels and napkins separately.

  • Use the highest quality, eco-friendly laundry detergent and softener combined with hot water.

  • Provides a wide variety of materials for towels and napkins, plus customization options to make them unique for your business.

  • Provides training materials for employees to ensure a smooth and seamless transition.

  • Additionally, it offers other solutions for substantially reducing your toilet paper consumption.

On the business side,

Adopting this service not only provides a home-like experience to your employees and clients but also significantly reduces the company's toilet paper and paper towel usage by 70 percent, offering a cost-effective and eco-friendly solution for moving toward a green and sustainable business.

What is the forecast?

According to Vancouver.ca, in Vancouver alone, there are over 8,800 businesses with workforces ranging from 10 to 1,000 people. Imagine if we were able to convince 30 percent of them to adopt this method.

Think how much this simple change could impact our planet. (And this is just in Vancouver; you can imagine the effect across Canada)
